I’ve been MIA for awhile when it comes to “quality posting.” I know.
I’d like to blame it on the turkey’s latest adventure…
Yep, the kid is in heat, and it took us completely by surprise.
I’d read that females go into heat somewhere between 6 months to 1 year, but we were not prepared at all for her to start at 8 months!
I mean, we hadn’t even tested out the diapey-wearing yet!
More to come on all the joyful and let’ssssss be honest – not so joyful moments – of owning a female puppy in heat.
I hear it can last for 3 weeks????
*cue human whining and whimpering*
P.S. Bella’s eyes in this photo actually turned out glowing green. Hate that about pet photography!
However, I did find a simple and effective tutorial to fix this. And I’ll be straight – I like to think of myself as pretty decent at Photoshop, and I still learned something.
In case you were wondering…I learned about the handy-dandy opacity slider trick on the layers panel – instead of manually typing in a different opacity number. Genius.

Opacity painting on green eyes has been my VERY best friend over the past couple of years! lol
I am so sorry about the heat cycle. I don’t know what your plans are with her, but right now, I’m feeling glad that Kuster is a male, since he’s the only unaltered dog here. It is three weeks, but I think there’s only one week that will be really unpleasant, from what I remember from a long time ago.
It is so rare to find an unaltered dog as a pet these days. Probably a good thing, but it can make it difficult for other people to understand why you haven’t altered your working dog!
